Society Room Wedding >
I had the opportunity to photograph Alison and Paul’s wedding with my friend Walter van Dusen Photography & Co. recently. Often I’m photographing the bride getting ready but with Walter being the lead photographer I got to spend time with Paul and his groomsmen as they got ready and made their way to the church.
I really enjoy the behind the scenes moments at weddings, the little pieces of time that make each wedding unique. Very often it’s these slices of time that really make the story of a couple’s wedding day come to life. The unstaged, unposed, and unplanned events that capture personalities and show the viewers of these photographs who the couple really are.
After Alison and Paul’s ceremony in a beautiful church in Springfield we made our way to The Society Room in Hartford for their reception. With lots and lots of dancing throughout the night we had no shortage of opportunities to capture the couple enjoying themselves with their family and friends. Later in the night we took Alison and Paul into the Society Room’s vault for some creative portraits, and then outside for a few more.
As the night went on a belly dancer joined the reception for a colorful show that was a surprise for the attendees. Here are some photos from the day…
