Your Wedding Is A Story Waiting To Be Told

Meet Seth

Seth Kaye is a multiple-award winning, nationally and internationally published documentary wedding photographer who has been named one of the Top 50 Wedding Photographers in the United States, one of the Top 20 Wedding Photographers in Boston, and One of the Best Wedding Photojournalists in New England.

He spent several years as a photojournalist after earning a degree in fine arts photography. He then drew on that experience and utilized those skills to begin photographing weddings in an unobtrusive, respectful fashion.

While also creating artful portraits that capture unique moments in people’s lives, Seth’s documentary style creates a visual narrative of weddings. It reflects a philosophy where real moments are free from manipulation, and authenticity is the primary goal.

As a storyteller and documentarian, I base my work on the natural unfolding of moments. I see a wedding day as a story to tell. A personal and meaningful event that will be recorded through photography, ready for the next generations to view.

Unique Experience

My experiences as a photojournalist and artist have been assets to my work as a wedding photographer. Studying fine arts at the University of Massachusetts, I discovered the beauty and power of photography, and devoted the following several decades to honing my craft.

Seeing an image appear in the darkroom for the first time was life changing. I knew immediately that this art form would be a part of my life forever. It was almost like magic.

In my eyes, photography is a perfect melding of science and art, representing a fusion of my deepest interests.

Getting Here

I didn’t originally set out to be a wedding photographer. In fact, for the first 15 years of my career I intentionally avoided this path, instead telling stories as a freelance photojournalist. At the time, my issue with photographing weddings was what I saw as the formulaic nature of the field. Everyone was posed. Everything was over-scheduled.

This is not the way to capture real moments or authenticity, nor to evoke feeling when people see the photographs years later.

I had no interest in taking those kinds of uninspired pictures. I still don’t. But when the people in my friend group began to get married and wanted me to document their day, I decided to give it a try.

I accepted an offer to photograph a friend’s wedding, and it was more creative and fun than I anticipated. I discovered that you can take meaningful photographs at a wedding, without posing anyone, or pulling a couple away from the party.

Those early experiences ignited a spark that continues to this day.

My experience as a photojournalist brought out and honed my documentarian and storytelling nature. I’m skilled in the art of being in the right place at the right time, and I use this experience and the techniques I’ve learned to tell the story of a wedding day.

I learned that a wedding is just like any other story. What it needs is a good storyteller.

Your Photography Ninja

I'm here to be your calming influence, not only the day of your wedding, but in every meeting leading up to it, and for every request once the day has passed.

During your wedding, my work is instinctive and seamless. I will be everywhere, while remaining essentially invisible to you and your guests. Fading into the background so the day can unfold in the most natural way possible.

I will capture the special moments. The connections. The looks. The laughter during a father-daughter dance and the joy on the faces of your guests as you stand before them to exchange vows and make your promises.

These are the moments that can’t be planned or posed or prompted. These are the special moments that become the memories of the day. They unfold naturally, and my job is to be there, in the right place at the right time, open to the possibilities.
