Delaney House Wedding…
Kim and Anthony were married on a rainy fall day, though the rain did allow us to make an interesting portrait once the sun had set.
Both Kim and Anthony got ready at the adjacent D Hotel before their first look. The rain held off long enough for us to have them see one another for the first time that day, as well as get some fall-tinged family and friends portraits done outside.
Their ceremony was held in the Delaney House’s attached tent with Kim’s uncle officiating. During the following cocktail hour Kim, Anthony, and I visited a room in the Delaney House’s restaurant where they had their first date. The room was empty during that time of the day, so we made some portraits in front of the fireplace and also at the table where they sat together for the first time.
Once introduced into the reception they shared their first dance, and their Maid of Honor and Best Man toasted them. We later had a quiet cake cutting in an out of the way spot to keep it to just the two of them (and their photographers, of course).
While it’s often not Plan A on wedding day, sometimes rain can help you make a fun portrait. Kim and Anthony needed a little coaxing to go outside, but I had an idea and my second had an umbrella. When they saw the results on the back of the camera they were glad we took the leap.
