Nubble Lighthouse + Stage Neck Inn Wedding >
Lindsey and Dan were married on an alternately sunny and rainy day in Maine. Their first look was at Nubble Lighthouse in York, and their ceremony and reception were held at the Stage Neck Inn in York Harbor. I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding with Ryan Williams of Four Wings Photography as co-lead photographer. We were joined by Hannah and Kristie of Favor Films who were the videographers for the day.
Ryan and I had previously photographed Lindsey and Dan during their engagement session last fall, so they were already accustomed to being photographed by us, which showed in how comfortable they were on the wedding day itself.
We began our coverage of the day with Ryan photographing Lindsey getting ready at Stage Neck Inn, and me photographing Dan as he and his groomsmen got dressed at Anchorage Inn in York. We were all scheduled to meet up at Nubble Lighthouse for Lindsey and Dan’s first look, but a downpour made us adjust our plans. This turned out to be a blessing since it gave everyone a little extra time to finish getting ready. Plus it kept the other tourists away from the lighthouse, giving us fewer distractions when the time for their first look came.
Nubble Lighthouse is where Dan proposed to Lindsey, so it was an important location to them. When the rain lifted we were able to proceed as planned. After seeing each other for the first time that day, Lindsey gave Dan a custom tie clip and cufflinks, and we made a few portraits of them with the lighthouse in the background.
After taking a shuttle to Stage Neck Inn, Lindsey had an emotional first look with her father before the ceremony. Meanwhile, Dan’s mother pinned his boutonniere on his lapel, after which spent a few minutes alone so he could practice his vows.
Then it was time for the ceremony. Each of the groomsmen and bridesmaids walked down the aisle in turn, including Lindsey and Dan’s dogs Riley and Billy, followed by Lindsey being escorted by her father. The overcast sky provided perfect lighting for the ceremony and then the family portraits which followed.
As the evening progressed, Lindsey and Dan’s first dance was followed by two heartfelt speeches and emotional parent dances. Lindsey took the opportunity during their cake cutting to get more than a little frosting on Dan’s face, though he did a good job at dodging much of it.
Before the sun set we took Lindsey and Dan down to the venue’s beachfront for a few portraits. The fog on the horizon was a nicely moody compliment to the cliffside in the background, which we made good use of for some creative portraits.
Then it was back inside for a lot of dancing, which went on throughout the remainder of the night.
Here are some photos from the day…
