Upper Vista Wedding >
Linda + Romel had their wedding at the Upper Vista at the Log Cabin in Holyoke on a very sunny spring day.
They met while living in San Francisco and had their first date at an art exhibit opening. They told me their date was better than the art since they first watched the sun set, and then the moon rise. Some years later Romel proposed during a lunar eclipse, so they now celebrate their “lunarversary” each month.
Their wedding day was casual but meaningful. Avid travelers, they had each guest table named for a country they had spent time in, and included photos from their adventures in that country. They also incorporated traditions from both their heritages into the ceremony. One Filipino wedding custom is for the groom to present the bride with a small bag of coins. Also, per Jewish custom, Jacinto stomped on a glass at the end of the ceremony. He got a fair amount of air while doing so!
At the end of the ceremony the ring bearer and flower girl walked up to them and said “It’s time to see the wizard!” This was the cue for them and their attendants to dance down the aisle to “Follow the Yellow Brick Road”. Linda and Romel then went by themselves into the Upper Vista bridal suite for a few minutes where Romel presented Linda with a bouquet of red duct tape roses.
After the reception, still dressed for the wedding, Linda and Romel led whomever wished to join them on a hike through some trails on Mount Tom. They had quite a few takers!
